The Rainbow Room
The aim of this project was to redesign a room for the two daughters of my client, ages 4 and 7. We wanted to update the room to make it feel bright, happy and kid friendly, while placing importance on balancing the aesthetic differences in each girl’s age and style. We also focused on creating an organized and usable space that was easy for kids to navigate.
By reorganizing the furniture for more cohesion, and installing a bunk bed and shelving, we were able to design a room that’s fun, whimsical and, more importantly, utilitarian by creating space for the girls to play.
We repainted the walls, adding an accent wall with removable wallpaper to give the room a modern yet youthful feel. Throw pillows, rainbow-colored cotton tassels and a pink area rug add textural, bohemian design elements, and white curtains along the bottom bunk and around the desk add a light, airy elegance to the playful nature of the overall design.
